So on the drive home from work last week I noticed a small billboard that reads "Come cruise the colon!" with an image of little stick figure kids walking into what I assume is what a colon would look like if removed from the body. It was only just yesterday that I find out this is an advertisement by the new library here. The library! Then I noticed the following on the internal classified ads at work....

The Columbus Regional Medical Foundation is bringing the Colossal Colon to Columbus, Georgia and it will be stationed at the new Columbus Public Library on Macon Road from February 22 through February 25, 2005. A variety of educational opportunities are being planned now to include a Colon Cancer Awareness Dinner on Thursday, February 24, 2005 at the Columbus Iron Works Convention and Trade Center. We hope you will consider joining us in educating our community about the benefits of prevention, early diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the colon. Molly McMaster, a colon cancer survivor and Hannah Vogler, co-founders of The Colon Club, will speak about how CoCo, the Colossal Colon went from a vision to a reality. Proceeds from this event will benefit the John B. Amos Cancer Center at The Medical Center and educational programs for colon cancer awareness. $40.00 a ticket

That's right. Come to Columbus, go to the library, and check out a "colossal" named colon! Now I'm all for charity and disease research and stuff... but just wow... that's about all from this town. Yar!

In a few short minutes I'll be picking up my co-worker, heading to Groome Transport, and shuttling off to ATL so as to hop a flight to Kansas City. This will be an interesting week. Sure I've traveled for work before, but that was conversion support. All I had to do was be there in case any questions were asked and then I had all the time in the world and several other trainer resources to fall back on when stumped. This is a different story. This is a workflow education session. This will be my first time in front of a client leading a training session. Frankly, I'm nervous. I know it will all work out in the end as I've practiced for this week for quite some time. Butterflies are butterflies though, and they've got a mighty stronghold within my stomach from which to lead their assaults of nervousness upon my being.

Also, Kansas City is cold. I am for the most part from the southeast... No good can come of this. Gotta keep moving. Ciao, catch you cats and kittens Friday.

So I lie a lot. Regardless (Irregardless? :D), here's a post.

Life has been pretty nifty as of late. Work is quickly dumping more and more responsibility on me and forcing me to be a functional member of society. Still not sure how much I dig that. Gearing up for my first solo training on the 30th of this month so that will be pretty cool. My classroom training went pretty well last week too, just glad my mentor was around to help out at times. After this session on the 30th, my next big task is a 3-day training session out in Kansas City. Wheeeee travel, and stuff... yeah...

So I'm 22 now. Thanks for all your well-wishes guys. Made me feel all warm and tingly inside... or maybe that's just gas. Birthday stuff: got a set of cookware for my new apartment and an enclosure for my spare HD. So yeah, I'm up to 280 gig... I've got a long way to go. Also purchased a cellular phone yesterday, a Motorola V180 to be precise. If you want or need the number toss me an IM or an e-mail.

As for other goings on, I've been hanging out at home a lot as usual. I'm getting out more and more as time goes on though. Finally getting back in touch with old friends and meeting new ones. Suppose I should mention the apartment. I'll be moving into my own apartment on new year's eve. Pretty sizeable 1br 1ba, probably more than enough space for me really but I'll find a way to put it to work. The apartment itself is a convenient 5-7 minute drive from work and pretty central to the city, right near Lakebottom (Werabcoba) Park. Perhaps this will be the motivation I need to get outside and do stuff. I doubt it but we'll see.

Not sure what all else to say really. I've been missing all you folks to some degree. Once I get settled I'll likely try to throw some sort of party or another, fail miserably, and meet up with you folks in Auburn or something.

Questions, comments, concerns go!

Running late to meet folks at the movies, haven't eaten, hurry to north end of town with Ryan. Overshot the bank, turned back, noticed car running hot, got cash, missed rendezvous with Ryan. Hurry to Wendy's to catch up with Ryan and get food before the movie. Middle lane of Manchester Expressway, car shuts off except headlights. No Emergency blinkers, can't get it started. Got it into the parking lot of a Ryan's steakhouse buffet type place, sat with a very kind employee who let me use the phone and awaited rescue by dad. And so yeah... car is dead, I'm at home, missed movie and can't reach Casie to let her know i'll not be showing up. All in all it's been a poopy night. And all this after looking forward to the weekend all week.

Graduation was quite spiffy. My aunt & uncle came down from Peoria, IL. My brothers came down from Philadelphia and Atlanta. All was groovy. Lots of fun pictures and the like. Hustled out of AU and to my reception not long after the ceremony (thanks for the hand Ian & co.). Lots of folks there were my parents' friends but it was still good fun and good eats. Headed back to AU the next day tp visit and see Troy and whatnot. Also fun times. After that, hung out at Will's for one last time (for a while anyway). After that, i came home and hung out until my IL family left so i could move into my room. So the last few days have been me setting up the room and some such stuff.

Still looking for work. Might be working at TSYS, Barnes & Noble, Best Buy, or for the Duck. Wheeee. Also been giving some serious thought to the military lately, more on that later. Ummmm yeah...

Saw one of my bro's old buddies from his HS days and it was nuts. 5 years in school, 5 years in the Navy and still going, wife and a 7 month old kid. I never pictured it from this dude but it was quite spiff when it all sank in.

What else? Just got in from moving my sister from ATL to Columbus.
Yeah, despite how much i hate when people do the "i'll update" post i've given you 2. Well guess we'll just have to deal with it and move on eh? Anyway, I went to Philly to see my bro and had a helluva good time. We went to various diners (which are required to be neon and shiny) and even a cafe for our tasty tasty meals. Good eatin', that's what diner cuisine is. Up there it is anyway. Though the comforts of a sketchy waffle house just weren't to be found. Visited one of my bro's classes and that was petty nifty. I experienced the sketchiness that is the subway, also pretty nifty. Caught hell trying to fly back though. I went up by way of AirTran's X-fares. Nice cheap 65 dollar ticket. Thought returning would work out similarly. Funny thing about X-fares and Atlanta being a hub... You can fly out of ATL with ease, but getting back in is a bitch and a half. Had to spring for a delta ticket to catch the last flight of saturday night home but oh well. Hmm just noticed the randomness of how i use capitalization. Kinda funny, think i'll leave it as is. what else, what else... i got nothin. seeya

    <lj:music>Arrested Development - Children Play with Earth</lj:music>

Sagittarius/Capricorn
December 19 to December 23

Sagittarius is the ninth sign of the Zodiac; Capricorn is the tenth. Sagittarius/Capricorns use knowledge to understand the world and hard work to master it. Those born on this cusp are both ambitious and disciplined, determined and dedicated to achieving their goals. They are also practical and realistic, cautious not to get in over their head. Sagittarius/Capricorns are the scholars and learners of the zodiac. They seek the truth and the meaning of life, and they love to explore. The astrological symbol of Sagittarius is the Archer. The Archer is a Centaur, half man and half horse, and it is the only sign of the zodiac that is half man and half beast. Centaurs were the great scholars and intellectuals of Greek and Roman myth, but they could also be hotheaded and aggressive.

The astrological symbol of Capricorn is the Sea Goat. They start from the sea and ascend to the highest mountain tops, working their way upward with every step. While the path is not always smooth, their determination to succeed ensures they will persevere. They can also be rigid and unforgiving when others stand in their way. Sagittarius/Capricorns are not fixed or opinionated, and they have no set plan or bias, but seek to learn new ideas as they come. This aspect is indicative of the mutable nature of the sun sign Sagittarius. These people often excel in the workplace and are business leaders, often starting businesses or coming up with new ideas. In this way, Capricorn exemplifies the cardinal quality assigned to it. Capricorns' organizational ability combines with their diligence to help them achieve their goals. Sagittarius/Capricorns desire the freedom to do what they want when they want, and they tend to be impulsive and independent.

Sagittarius is ruled by the planet Jupiter. In ancient Roman mythology, Jupiter (and his Greek equivalent, Zeus) was the king of the gods. Jupiter represents expansion in all its forms, including the mental outreach so prominent in Sagittarians, but it also may invite excess. Capricorn is ruled by the planet Saturn. In ancient Roman mythology, Saturn (and his Greek equivalent, Cronus) was the father of many of the gods, including Zeus. Saturn is about discipline, hard work and responsibility. Sagittarius/Capricorns are interested in mental exploration as teachers and philosophers, and are loyal and charitable, self-controlled and self-reliant. They are also trustworthy and charming, adaptable to all situations.

The element associated with Sagittarius is Fire. The element associated with Capricorn is Earth. Fire/Earth Signs are physical and practical. While they are about action and leadership, they are not in a hurry. Their innate optimism and belief in straightforward dealings with others can sometimes make them careless or impulsive, but underneath they are economical, shrewd and rather conservative. Sagittarius/Capricorns love to have a good time, and they are outgoing and friendly. They are, however, also among the most responsible and traditional signs of the zodiac. They are generally polite and warm, because they understand that making enemies will not help them achieve in life.

Many Sagittarius/Capricorns are natural comedians, sometimes exaggerating their adventures to entertain others. Their innate self-confidence may make them argumentative or blunt, but their intention is to learn, not to offend. They are high-spirited and enthusiastic, often flirtatious, and they tend to enjoy social life immensely. In their leisure time, Sagittarius/Capricorns athleticism comes to the forefront. Personal challenge is always appreciated, and they tend to prefer competition with others. One-on-one competition also appeals to them, and they especially enjoy golf and martial arts. They tend to be lucky, and may enjoy gambling. Thanks to their philosophical side, they also enjoy drama, debate and most other mentally challenging pursuits.

In love relationships, Sagittarius/Capricorns are flirtatious, devoted and playful. The great strength of the Sagittarius/Capricorn-born is in their philosophical and exploratory nature. It is important to them that they live life to the fullest, experiencing everything they can. Their ambition is inexhaustible, and they are not easily deterred when their goals are in sight. Their hard work makes them one of the most successful characters of the Zodiac.
